The shore.... [11 Jul 2004|06:31pm]
hereticalheart
It was littered with a thousand broken dreams and a soft rain of unstoppable tears washed them clean, leaving them glistening beneath a broken sky of grays and white. The sun beamed through the cracks of blue above, as up cast eyes blinded in prismatic light, fell upon the shards, felled by the very dreams they lost, realizing that for every broken dream there is a broken heart. Cut deep by their hopes rivulets of red run into a sea of sorrow that is always churning with despair.

NIGHTWALK [16 Mar 2004|04:39pm]

a_poetess
[ mood | creative ]

I surrender - I regret
This broken heart is all that's left
The light has gone -
The dark's come down
It seems my shining sun has set

No one knocks upon my door
Night after night I pace the floor
The night has come -
The morning sun
Won't shine for me anymore

Ah! Ray of hope. Oh! Blessed light
There's no will left in me to fight
I face the dark
Without a spark
Of joy to see me through the night...

-02/19/1993

Written during what must have been a dark time in my life, indeed!

UNTITLED [16 Mar 2004|04:31pm]

a_poetess
[ mood | relaxed ]

Sleeping as the silent river flows across my mind
Wondering about the worth of it all just to unwind
You were always there, I know
Then and now the river flows
We pick up all the pieces on the way

Watching as you lie there, wrapped in steady dreams
Footprints in the sand aren't always what they seem
Still we kept on growing strong
And we know that we belong
We feel an endless summer in a day

Knowing that the time has come to live in love again
Feelings grow, come creeping in like soft summer rain
You and I are now as one
And we're sure we've just begun
They're telling us that we have come to stay.

VANISHED

Her heart has been
Abandoned
Left all alone
No one to turn to
Complete devastation
Runs through
Her broken body
His words
Burned, echoed
In her mind
Her precious
Now torn
Heart
Bruised, battered
Broken
Heart
The pain made
Her heart raw
He vanished
Without a trace
The words
He said
Just echoed
They created
Thunder
Inside
Her precious mind
Is her
Love
Supposed to
Vanish?
Yours
Apparently
Did.

Hello!  I'm new here.  I have a lot of poetry that I have written over the years.  My mother has read some of it, and what she has read she thinks I should have published in a book.  Up until now, it wasn't really an option to me, but now I think I'm ready to share my poems.  Here is a recent poem:

Your Experiment

I was your experiment,

Your test run for love.

Had to get me out of the way

So you could find your happiness.

I hope it worked.

I wish you well.

You thought you had destroyed me.

I would never love again.

But I broke the hold you had on me

And found love of my own.

Love that you could not give.

Love that will last forever.

You no longer haunt me.

I’ve broken the chains

That held me tight.

You may never read this

Or even care to know

But it’s the fact and knowing

I'm OK with you gone.

PUMPKIN FACE [27 Oct 2003|02:51pm]

wizzy
[ mood | scared ]

Oh, I see you there with that flame in your face-
Standing your ground, it's your soul's eternal place.

You drew your design in the shadow of "we"-
Loves knife cut deep, spooking the hell out of me.

I tried to soften the spirit and bring out the treats for you-
But the tricks continued; the point of the knife gave me a clue.

The evil games you played sparked the end for us, as your heart did spurn-
If I touched your face with reason, my hands would burn.

So, now you sit, the end came too soon-
A round, evil face, burning under an autumn moon.

Once an angel, your spirit and soul turned ugly and mean-
You'll forever be remembered- destined to grace our homes on Halloween.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

I hope all spirits, good and bad, move you in the right direction this season.

LIKE WIND IN THE SOUL [06 Sep 2003|01:05pm]

wizzy
Wings of an angel spread wide at night,
Ready to end lonliness into Autumn's flight.

Tears roll down the devine lady's face,
She longs for comfort and a loving embrace.

Her wings feel heavy and about to freeze,
Then a new hope, unseen, comes on late summers breeze.

A smile spreads across a night as black as coal,
The breeze is now like wind in the soul.

*This poem stirred up a certain kind of magic in my life (1999). A wonderful woman from Johannesburg, South Africa read it online and now she's my wife!!*

SOMETHING A LITTLE DIFFERENT... [04 Sep 2003|01:31pm]

a_poetess
[ mood | pensive ]

I started out writing this as a song, country-type. It's not finished yet, though - still needs a lot of work!

STANDING IN THE RAIN

It was raining outside, and I was standing alone
Walking home without you by my side
Water like tears, and my heart like a stone
And just wanting somewhere to hide

CHORUS
I was thinking of how I’d like to have you hold me
Thinking about the way things could have been
Wondering if I’d ever find my true love –
Thinking about it … standing in the rain

CHILDRENS' POEM... [26 Aug 2003|11:19am]

THE UNICORN

He came into the forest glade one day:
Silent, swift and strong;
He stood and watched the children play,
And listened to their song.
He bowed his head to touch the ground
With his horn of white,
And a blaze of flowers grew all around –
Oh, what a wondrous sight!

There’s magic in a unicorn –
If you should chance to see
A horse all white, with a spiral horn,
You’re in The Land Of Make-Believe.

He flies across the midnight skies
And leaves a trail of stars.
As children dream behind closed eyes
They hear his hoofbeats from afar;
They ride with him to distant worlds
And see wonders far and wide;
Inside the dreams of boys and girls
The unicorn comes to life.

There’s magic in a unicorn –
If you should chance to see
A horse all white, with a spiral horn,
You’re in The Land Of Make-Believe.

Note...this poem, along with other poems and also short stories, comes from a collection of works I have entitled THE LAND OF MAKE-BELIEVE

In The Sands of Time [22 Aug 2003|03:37pm]

wizzy

All morning long we walked the beach-
The oceans waves were in reach.

Virgin lovers, strolling in natures mist-
The fire inside I couldn't resist.

In the sands of time, it's those moments I adore-
Finding you in that kiss, could I ever want for more?

Takes us back to a simpler time when love still sizzled under the summer sun.

WELCOME TO POETRY CORNER!!! [22 Aug 2003|06:12pm]

a_poetess
[ mood | excited ]

Welcome to my little corner of the world.

Here is a little sample of my own work. Feel free to add some of your own!

BETWEEN THE LINES

Why can people never
Say just what they mean
Come right out and say it
Without the words between

Between the lines
Where we sometimes read too much
Between the lines
Forever out of touch

We misunderstand each other
Destroy each other's dreams
Not knowing when we need to
How to read the words between

Between the lines
Where we leave so much unsaid
Between the lines
Where nothing's ever read
Between the lines
Where we feel so insecure
Between the lines
Where our future's never sure

So we go on wandering
Through life's drifting dreams
Trying to find the meaning
Lost in the words between

Between the lines
That divide the dark and the light
Between the lines
Where we can't tell day from night.

At times we read too much (or too little) in what others say...
